UV haze, gone. Factory clarity back.

Wet sanding through three grits, machine-polish to glass-clarity, UV-blocking sealant on top. Restores faded polycarbonate housings to like-new. Flat $185 per pair, sixty to ninety minutes on-site. We work in the shade so the sealant cures clean.

01 · Why

Yellowed lenses lose 60% of light output.

Polycarbonate headlight lenses fade under UV. Past about three years of Miami sun the topcoat clears off and the plastic underneath starts oxidizing. The car looks dated, but more importantly night driving suffers. Studies measure light output loss at 40-65% on heavily yellowed lenses. A restoration brings the lens back to optical clarity and reseals the surface against the next round of UV exposure.

The cheap auto-parts-store kit polishes the top layer but doesn’t seal. Three months later the haze comes back worse than it started. A real restoration removes all oxidation through three sanding grits + cuts + polishes + applies a long-cure UV-blocker that bonds to clean plastic. It’s the difference between a six-month patch and a multi-year fix.

02 · Process

Five passes. Documented.

  1. Tape-off. Mask paint, trim, and headlight edges with painter’s tape. The sanding gets aggressive; nothing past the lens should touch abrasive.
  2. Wet sand 800 → 1500 → 2500. Three grits, water-lubricated, light pressure. Removes oxidized layer and UV-burned plastic.
  3. Compound + machine polish. Cuts the sanding scratches out, brings the lens back to optical clarity. We use a dual-action polisher with foam pad — not aggressive enough to heat the plastic, fine enough to clear the haze.
  4. IPA wipe. Removes all polish residue. Sealant must bond to bare clean plastic.
  5. UV-block sealant. Long-cure 2K topcoat applied wet-on-wet. Forms a durable UV-resistant clear layer. Cures dust-free in 15 minutes, full hardness in 24 hours.

04 · Where

Your driveway or covered spot. Miami-Dade & Broward.

We work in the shade so the sealant cures clean. Driveway under a covered carport, garage with the door open, or a shaded parking spot all work. Direct sun causes the 2K topcoat to flash before it levels — we won’t apply it under harsh conditions. Sixty to ninety minutes on-site, then a 24-hour cure window before the car drives in heavy rain.

05 · FAQ

Common questions.

How long does headlight restoration take?
Sixty to ninety minutes on-site for a pair. We work in the shade or under cover so the sealant cures without dust contamination.
How long does the result last?
Two to four years on properly sealed lenses. Miami UV is unforgiving — every restoration leaves a sealed UV-blocking topcoat, but the sealant degrades over time. Yearly inspection on daily drivers, every two years on garage-kept toys.
Will it work on yellowed projector lenses or LED housings?
Standard polycarbonate lenses (most cars 2005+): yes. Bare glass projector elements: not needed — those don't yellow. Encapsulated LED bars or fully bonded sealed beams: contact us with photos before booking. Some sealed assemblies are not field-restorable.
Can you do single-lens (one side replaced or undamaged)?
Yes. Pair pricing is the standard but a single lens is quoted at 60% of the pair rate when the other side is recently new or undamaged. DM photos for confirmation before booking.
