Service 06 · Off-the-car wheel detail
Every spoke. Every barrel. Off the car.
Wheels off the car, jack-stands under the suspension, full-detail treatment per wheel. Iron decon, barrel and face scrubbed, high-temp sealant on the faces and barrels. The finish you only get when nothing’s in the way. Pairs cleanly with correction or a ceramic appointment.
01 · Why
Brake dust eats wheel finish.
Iron particles from brake pads embed themselves into clearcoat-finished wheel faces. The Miami climate accelerates the corrosion — brake dust + salt-spray + tropical humidity is the worst possible mix for an unprotected wheel. Left unmanaged, a forged set goes from glossy to pitted in two years. Standard wheel washing addresses the surface. Iron decon + thorough barrel cleaning is what stops the corrosion cycle.
Off-the-car is the only way to reach the barrel curves, the spoke backs, the lug-bore counter-bores, and the hub flange. We pull each wheel, treat it on a stand, and refit with proper torque sequence. Standard work on factory clearcoated wheels and aftermarket forged sets alike.
02 · Process
Six passes. Per wheel.
- Pull + tag. Jack-stands under the suspension, wheels pulled in sequence (front-left → front-right → rear-left → rear-right), tagged with painter’s tape so we refit in the same position.
- Iron decon. Iron-X spray, dwell two minutes, agitate with soft brush. Brake dust particles bleed purple as the chelating reaction completes. Rinse and inspect.
- Pre-wash + clay bar. Wheel-specific shampoo on every surface (face, spokes, barrel, lug bore, hub flange). Clay-bar follows on the face to lift bonded contaminants.
- Barrel scrub. Long-handled brush + microfiber pad reaches the barrel curve and the back of the spokes. Three rounds of soap-and-rinse — the dirt comes off in layers.
- High-temp sealant. Wheel-rated sealant applied per panel, levels, wiped down. Bonds to clean wheel surface, resists brake-heat cycles.
- Tire + refit. Tire dressing applied, wheel refit to spec torque sequence (alphabet pattern, three-stage tighten), final wipe-down. Photo doc per wheel before and after.

04 · Where
Driveway with level ground. Miami-Dade & Broward.
Off-the-car wheel work needs flat ground and clearance to safely jack the vehicle. Driveway, garage floor, or a level paved lot all work. We bring jack stands, torque wrenches, sockets, and rubber chocks. Two-and-a-half to three hours on a typical setup; longer on XL barrels or center-lock setups.
